OUR UNIVERSE

Each project in our slate is part of the Misfit Universe, united by our "misfit" characters.

Three-time Emmy and Annie Award-nominated Peruvian-American editor, director, and writer Sandra Bambarén Powers was the lead editor of Disney’s critically acclaimed series Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. A graduate of the MFA Film/Video program at CalArts, she has contributed her creative expertise to iconic shows like Nickelodeon’s Legend of Korra, and Disney’s Elena of Avalor. Her short film Still Life After Death premiered at the Sharjah Film Festival in 2021 and is now streaming on Amazon Prime, while her debut live-action short Autumn was distributed by Ouat Media and screened at numerous international festivals. In 2023, Sandra art-directed the Grammy®-nominated opera film Black Lodge by David T. Little and produced by Beth Morrison Projects (BMP) for Opera Philadelphia. She made her stage directorial debut with The Great Soviet Bucket, produced by BMP with Miami Light Project, and funded by the National Performance Network’. She also conceived and directed BARDO, an immersive theatrical experience hailed by the LA Times as “full of wonder,” performed at the historic United Theater (CAP UCLA 2024) and BRIC (PROTOTYPE 2025). Timur Bekbosunov, Partner

GRAMMY®-nominated Qazaq-American performer and film producer TIMUR, “the extravagantly transgressive, dangerous and seductive” (LA Times), has made solo appearances with LA Philharmonic, Bang on a Can All-Stars, Opera Philadelphia, National Czech Opera Theater, Comédie de Genève, PROTOTYPE, Santa Cecilia Academy, Müpa Budapest, among many others. As a film producer, Timur worked on nine projects as an executive, producer and creative, including Sundance's 2019 winner "Clemency" (starring Alfre Woodard), "Color Out of Space" (starring Nicholas Cage, TIFF premiere), "Daniel Isn’t Real" (SXSW premiere) and "Measure of Revenge" (starring Bella Thorne) for ACE Pictures Entertainment. A graduate of CalArts, his theatrical projects with his band Timur and the Dime Museum, “a post-punk screaming opera” (NPR), developed and produced by long-time collaborator Beth Morrison Projects, include Collapse (REDCAT, Operadagen Rotterdam, BAM 2015 Next Wave Festival); industrial opera film "Black Lodge" (Opera Philadelphia, Malmö Opera); a musical satire "The Great Soviet Bucket" (Miami Light Project); and a sci-fi comedy "Klaus from Space" (O.
